Disability Resource Group, Inc. (DRG) was founded in 1999 when president, John F. Nichols, discovered firsthand the importance of having disability coverage – and the difficulties in navigating the maze of companies, contract language and underwriting regulations. Struck down by an accident in 1993, he was told that he would likely be a quadriplegic. Determined to fight, John regained his ability to walk, reaching a progress level that less than one percent of patients with his diagnosis achieve.
This life-changing event led to the formation of Disability Resource Group, recognized today as one of the nation’s largest wholesalers of disability products. Today DRG works with over 5,000 financial service representatives throughout the United States.
President and founder, John Nichols, remains one of the insurance industry’s most dynamic figures and sought-after speakers. He has spoken at the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), and at National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) national and local meetings throughout the country. In addition, he is an expert witness for disability lawsuits and the creator of the groundbreaking HIV/disability product used in medical schools by students and residents. John is an active board member for the NAIFA Illinois, and is past president of the NIAFA Chicago Region, a graduate and moderator for the Leadership in Life program, and a NAIFA National committee member working on the Leadership in Life Institute (LILI) sub-committee. He is the founder of the Disability Resource Group Foundation which provides money and services to the disabled community. He is also a national speaker for the Spinal Cord Injury Association.
John is surrounded by a team of recognized disability insurance professionals who share his passion and his expertise in this challenging field. Working as a team, they have made Disability Resource Group a voice of hope for many – and the premier source for disability products in the United States.
